Maharashtrian Bharli Bhendi is okra stuffed with spices and cooked. It is tasty and pairs well with chapati or as a side dish with rice and amti..
Maharashtrian cuisine is spicy, tasty, has a distinctive taste and makes a good meal anytime. It is mostly vegetarian though not restricted, the jowar roti and the chapati are essentials in daily meals. A few dishes which one can resonate with Maharashtrian cuisine are junka, patal bhaji, bharli baingan and amti. Stuffed bhindi is one of my favorite one.your version looks too yum and delicious
Next time you make something like this, just invite me over! Looks delicious.
Bhindi is my all-time favourite vegetable. In Rajasthan we make a pretty different stuffing mostly with spices. After reading your recipe, I am definitely going to try the sweet and spicy coconut and jaggery stuffing. What is Goda Masala? I came across it in another recipe too… is it similar to garam masala?
We too love Bhindi at home, goda masala is a spice mix used in Maharashtrian cuisine. They use it many dishes including rasam which is called as amti. I need to make that soon at home. Thankyou for stopping by.
I love this with bhakri and thecha. The bharleli or masala filling varieties of sabzis in Maharashtrian cuisine is just too good. I can never have enough of this.
i like bhindi in any form. Never tried this dish before. This stuffed bhindi looks so delicious.
The stuffed bhendi looks so good. I just bought some goda masala. Will try this recipe soon
Wow.. Love this with Sambhar rice.. Your recipe is so inviting !
Bharli bhendi is favourite in my family ..yours look so flavorful !
I have had stuffed Bhendi, Bharli Bhendi just once, at a Maharashtrian friend’s home, and liked it a lot. It was served with a plain dal . The Bhendi tasted subtly of spices that I could not then identify. Later on I learnt it was the goda masala. I have recently acquired some of this masala and now with this recipe, have a chance to make the dish that I had enjoyed so much. With groundnut, coconut and jaggery, the curry promises to be special!
oooo I love this. Give me a cup of dal and some rice with this and i will be your fan forever
