Capsicum Stir Fry is a tasty and easy to make side dish. It is a flavoursome dish from North Indian cuisine. It is ideal to serve for lunch, dinner or pack in the lunch box.
Capsicum Stir Fry needs a few ingredients as sesame seed, cumin, garam masala, chilli powder apart from capsicum and onions. This recipe is from my diary written many years back. When you are bored of the usual cooking, or need a quick side dish, you can prepare this capsicum stir fry. It is ideal to serve with chapathi or phulka.
About the capsicum :
Cpsicum is a versatile vegetable used in all kind of cuisines. The capsicum available in the market are of two kind, big ones and the small ones. The small ones are spicy. Thus, I prefer the big ones for our cooking. If you like using the smaller variety, go ahead but be mindful of the extra chilli powder that is added.

Capsicum Stir Fry Recipe :
Ingredients :
To saute :
- 3 capsicum
- 1 big onion
- 1/2 teaspoon kasuri methi
- 1 teaspoon of fresh coriander
- 1/4 teaspoon chilli powder
- 2 teaspoon oil
For the seasoning :
- 2 teaspoon oil
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon white sesame
- 2 garlic crushed
- salt to taste
- 1.5 teaspoon peanut powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon chilli powder
- 4 teaspoon curd
Method :
- Wash the capsicum and cut into thin, long slices.
- Similarly, slice the onions.
- In a pan, add two teaspoon of oil and put the onion and saute it until it is pinkish in colour. Add the capsicum pieces go it and saute it. Sprinkle kasuri methi, chopped coriander and a little chilli powder to it. Saute it for sometime.
- In another pan, take oil. Add cumin and sesame seed to it. As it splutters, put the crushed garlic and chilli powder to it. Saute it. Add the cooked vegetable.
- Add salt, crushed peanut, garam masala to it. Mix well.
- Finally, blend the curd add put it. Mix well and remove from flame.
- Serve with chapathi or phulka.
Take a tip :
- Peanut powder is made by roasting the peanuts. When cool, remove the skin and grind it to a coarse powder.
- Taking another pan is an optional. You can remove the cooked vegetables in a plate or container.
